NON GEOGRAPHICAL NUMBERS (NGN)
(0800/0844/0845/0870 etc) Generally all work the same way some provide a revenue stream for you as well as charging your customer and some provide your customer the call for free and you pay all of the call charges for them. Either way these NGN’s are very popular with business. When you move you can take these numbers with you anywhere in the UK (note: Overseas callers cannot use UK NGN numbers to call but you can setup International Freephone numbers).
It works by taking the NGN number and pointing it at a non advertised phone number. This number can be a single PSTN line number or multiple PSTN line numbers or DDI (Direct Dial Inwards) numbers allocated to ISDN2e/30e lines. It is very simple and straight forward to set up and manage. If you want to change the number the NGN points at; a phone call will deal with this normally the same day.

0800 FREE PHONE NUMBER
For all those sales and marketing initiatives where you want to make it easy for your potential buyers to contact you without worrying about the cost of the call, the 0800 number is the right choice. An 0800 number helps your business by putting you above the competition who are not offering free calls to their customers!
0844/0845 LOCAL RATE NUMBERS
The use of an 0844/0845 numbers is ideal in those area’s where you don’t have a physical presence to offer your customers. Customers associate these numbers with well established organisations so presenting your company as a medium to large corporate entity rather than a small local business.
0870 NATIONAL RATE NUMBERS
0870 numbers offer the benefit of providing one number throughout the UK at a national rate to everyone who calls it. AsNGN numbers can be moved around the country there is no requirement to change your phone numbers when you move. The caller pays a national rate for the call they make no matter what part of the country they ring you from.
TYPICAL COSTS
Typically, we charge a connection fee of £50.00 plus vat for our standard Bronze number and a fixed monthly rental charge of £10.00 plus vat for each Bronze number, plus the cost of the call from the NGN to the destination number it points at. The call costs are effectively shared between the owner of the number and the caller, the costs vary depending on the specific service offered. Rental costs will also vary depending on the desirability of a number, and these are classified as bronze, silver, gold or platinum numbers.
